Every rider progresses at their own pace. Most first-time flyers spend their session learning the fundamentals- finding their balance, building confidence, and getting comfortable on the board. Many beginners fly a few feet above the water, while others may progress higher depending on their comfort level, coordination, and how quickly they learn. Our goal is to help you improve at a pace that's safe, comfortable, and fun!
Remember: Your first session is all about learning, building confidence, and having an unforgettable experience, not seeing how high you can go. As your skills and confidence grow, so will the possibilities. The more you fly, the more you'll be able to learn, refine your technique, and unlock new skills.
The minimum weight is 100 Lbs., and the maximum weight for our current set up is 300 Lbs. If we are unable to accommodate you this season, we're planning equipment upgrades next year and would love to have you fly with us then!
That's completely normal! In fact, most of our guests are first-time flyers and many arrive feeling a little nervous. We'll talk you through everything step-by-step, provide all necessary safety equipment, and help you progress at a pace that's comfortable for you. Our goal isn't to see how high you can fly, it's to help you have fun, build confidence, and enjoy an unforgettable experience on the water. Before you know it, you'll be wondering why you were nervous in the first place!
Not necessarily! All participants wear a Coast Guard-approved life jacket and are closely supervised by our instructors. If you can stay calm, listen to instructions, and enjoy being on the water, you're already to a great start. You don't have to be a duck to enjoy the water!

Absolutely! Friends and family are welcome to watch from shore, cheer you on, and capture photos and videos of your experience.
Falling is completely normal! Falling in the water is part of the learning experience and part of the fun. Most riders spend some time in the water while learning to balance and control the flyboard. Our instructors are nearby at all times and will guide you through the process safely. Even baby birds don't nail their first flight.
For safety reasons, phones should remain onshore or with spectators. GoPro footage is available for purchase so you can relive your flight without worrying about your device. Phones can't fly, but our GoPro footage can!
Yes, but we recommend using a secure strap. Water Bird is not responsible for lost personal items. If you wear contact lenses, please keep in mind you will be in the water. Swim goggles are not required, but can be helpful for guests with sensitive eyes.
